The wooden kohlu is thoroughly cleaned every day, using natural cleaning ingredients. The whole nuts go into a wooden kohlu and are pressed at 2-4 RPM. Speed is what heats an oil, so slow is the whole point. The oil remains Below 42°C, which is measured inside the Kohlu for every batch. Oil rests until the heavy sediments drop. The nutritious oil is then filled with great care in Food Grade bottles. No refining, no bleaching, no deodorising, nothing added.
Keep the bottle closed, dry, cool and out of direct sunlight. Slight cloudiness or sediment is normal. This shows oil is unfiltered and authentic. Use within six months of opening.

FAQ
1. Why whole seeds?
We use only unbroken whole seeds for pressing because they are the purest source of oil. Broken seeds oxidize faster and may lose valuable nutrients. Whole seeds help produce oil that is richer in natural nutrition and better preserves its authentic character.
2. What is cold-pressed oil?
True cold-pressed oil is extracted using a traditional wooden mortar-and-pestle (wood-pressed) method while keeping the temperature below 42°C. This gentle process helps preserve the oil’s natural aroma, flavour, and nutritional integrity.
3. Why is the extraction process slow?
Our oils are extracted at a slow speed of 2–4 RPM. This minimizes heat generation and helps keep the oil below 42°C, protecting its natural enzymes, aroma, taste, and nutrients.
4. Why is the oil unfiltered?
Below 42° Whole Seed Cold-Pressed Wood-Pressed Oils are allowed to undergo natural gravitational sedimentation. This process removes unwanted particles naturally while retaining the oil’s valuable nutrients. Heavy mechanical filtration can strip away beneficial components.
5. Are your oils multipurpose?
Yes. Our philosophy is simple: if you cannot eat it, you should think carefully before applying it to your skin. Depending on the variety, our oils can be used for cooking, skincare, haircare, massage, and oil pulling.
6. Why are Below 42° oils comparatively expensive?
Quality begins with carefully selected whole seeds. Our oils are produced slowly in small batches, under controlled temperatures, and stored and packaged with great care. These additional steps increase production costs but help preserve the oil’s natural flavour, aroma, and integrity.
7. Which is the most traditional and versatile oil?
Black Sesame Oil is one of the oldest traditionally used oils and is valued for its distinctive flavour, versatility, and wide range of traditional applications.
8. Does the absence of chemicals or stabilisers reduce shelf life?
No. Proper seed selection, careful extraction, controlled handling, and airtight packaging help protect the oil from oxidation. Below 42° Whole Seed Oils have a shelf life of 24 months when unopened and stored as directed.
9. Do you manufacture the oils yourselves?
Yes. Below 42° Whole Seed Cold-Pressed Wood-Pressed Oils are produced in our own facility under strict personal supervision to maintain quality and authenticity.
10. Can customers visit and see the process?
Absolutely. Individuals, families, students, and industry professionals are welcome to visit our facility by prior appointment and experience the traditional extraction process firsthand.
11. If oil is heated during cooking, why does cold pressing matter?
Cold pressing matters because:
- The oil reaches your kitchen with its natural nutrients intact.
- Many refined oils are subjected to multiple heating stages before packaging, which can reduce their nutritional value.
- Normal cooking does not automatically destroy all nutrients present in cold-pressed oil.
- Oils are also commonly used for drizzling, dressings, skincare, haircare, massage, and oral care, where their natural properties can be enjoyed fully.
12. Does groundnut oil make food smell strongly of groundnuts?
No. Groundnut oil has a mild, natural aroma that generally does not overpower the flavour of food.
13. Does mustard oil need to be heated before use?
No. Preheating is not required before using our mustard oil.
14. Which is better—olive oil or black sesame oil?
Black Sesame Oil holds a special place in traditional Indian and Ayurvedic practices, where it has long been valued for its versatility, nutritional richness, and multipurpose use.
15. Why is oil used in cooking?
Oil helps release the flavour, aroma, and fat-soluble compounds of spices and ingredients. It adds richness, texture, and depth of flavour to food.
16. What are the different uses of oil?
- Cooking
- Sautéing
- Frying
- Baking
- Salad dressings
- Dips and drizzling
- Ayurvedic formulations
- Hair care
- Skin care
- Massage
- Oil pulling

17. If oil is extracted in front of my eyes, is it automatically nutritious?
Not necessarily. The nutritional quality depends on how the oil is extracted. For maximum preservation of natural nutrients, the oil should be wood-pressed, extracted below 42°C, and processed slowly at 2–4 RPM. Simply witnessing the extraction does not guarantee that these conditions have been followed.
